Upon arriving in Izumo, the crisp morning air hinted at the unique experiences ahead. A humorous encounter with Japanese ladies, posing as our cab booking, set a tone of unexpected support. A cab driver later revealed the reason: the gathering of guards from across Japan during a special time known as Kami Arizuki in the ancient Japanese calendar.

Izumo Taisha: A Tapestry of Spirituality

The heart of Izumo, atop a hill in a charming town renowned for Soba noodles, holds Izumo Taisha. Home to two major festivals, dedicated to Ōkuninushi and Kotoamatsukami, it's believed to be Japan's oldest Shinto shrine.
